“In 1998, I traveled to Hawaii for work, and the profound natural beauty spurred my desire to start making art. This painting was given as a gift to a very good friend, who was moving from Maryland to Hawaii at the time. I wanted her to have a token of our friendship, as well as her own motivator not to work too hard. Kicking back in a hammock on the beach seemed fitting.”
